Rwanda: Authorities reach staff-level agreement with IMF, clearing path for $35.7 million disbursement
KIGALI, Oct 19 –Rwanda has reached a staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund on the first review of its Extended Credit Facility programme, paving the way for access to approximately $35.7 million pending Executive Board approval. The agreement follows Rwanda’s achievement of all end-June 2026 quantitative targets.
The 38-month ECF arrangement, approved in June 2026, totals about $250 million. IMF staff noted strong programme performance, with the economy growing 9.7 per cent in the first half of 2026, though inflation remained elevated at 15.7 per cent in August. The Board is expected to consider the review in December.
