Plateau State: Troops report arrests after farm damage; residents press for calm
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace arrested a herder and recovered one cow after a report of farm destruction at Ruweinko village in Bassa Local Government Area at about 11:30 a.m. on 7 October, security analyst Zagazola Makama (@ZagazOlaMakama) wrote, citing security sources. The suspect and the animal were taken for further action, he said.
In a separate post, the same account said troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, intercepted one cow on 6 October after farmland belonging to 36-year-old Izang Igyem was reported destroyed along the Gate 4 road of Jos University Teaching Hospital in Jos East. The herder fled when troops arrived, the post said; the animal was held for further action and what the account called an amicable resolution.
Away from the official security posts, Social Crusader (@Farukk4all) quoted a post by Big James (@Jah11James) describing killings in Bokkos, Mangu, Barkin Ladi and Riyom, and hospitals filling up. Farukk4all said he sympathised with the victims and called on the Plateau State government to restore peace and bring perpetrators to justice. EME could not independently confirm casualty figures from those posts.
