Sierra Leone: Freetown seeks Aeroflot link; schools sign FIFA arena deals
Sierra Leone is seeking talks with Aeroflot on direct flights between Moscow Sheremetyevo and Freetown, aviation data firm ch-aviation (@chaviation) reported.
In Freetown, Awoko Newspaper (@awokonewspaper) said the Sierra Leone Football Association signed agreements with Albert Academy Junior Secondary School and Bo School for FIFA Arena pilot projects. SLFA President Babadi Kamara was quoted as saying the facilities would give pupils better places to play and help identify young talent. FIFA is to supply materials and experts; local funding is to cover the contractor, the paper said.
Salone Messenger (@Salonemessenger) reported that the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone met Finance Minister Kerefa A. F. Kargbo. ICASL President Leslie Williams asked for an MoU with the ministry, a greater role for local audit firms in donor-funded work, and support for a permanent office. The minister, a fellow chartered accountant, was quoted as assuring the institute that its annual government subvention would continue.
